A three layer perspex sandwich with a positively curved outline.
Layer 2 is painted with blow dried spirit dye leaving graduated evaporation marks. Layer 2 also incorporates a disc in blue-black, with dissolved silver powder, as if glimpsing a telescopic view of a distant nebula. A section is missing out of this insert as if a shadow falls across. A smaller disc, in orbit further out, is identified as the cause.
This unit recalls the way an eclipse can lead to a false assumption during an astronomical observation. The whole is experienced again as a machined artifact.
